SHOT Show 2015 - Day Two

Day two is another successful day in the books. Didn’t meet with as many companies as I did yesterday, but spent more time with each company. Lots of new products today, so let’s get it started!

Non Article New Products:

Left Handed Franchi Affinity

The biggest new product that I wanted to see, I finally saw. Paul from Safety Solution Podcast released a new product for the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield. I do love this gun but one big draw back to it is the plastic part for the extended grip. It slides around, can cause malfunctions, and cause issues in an a reload. Paul had the brilliant idea to fix all those problems AND make it better for emergency extractions, more weight for mag release, and many other possible issues. Be sure to read more about this here:http://www.safetysolutionsacademy.com/plan-b-magazine-extension-oversized-base-pad-sw-shield/.

As most of you know, American Defense Manufacturing launched and has started shipping their new UIC rifles, available in different MODs (MOD1, 2, and 3). They also just released their 308 rifle here at shot show. I actually had the opportunity to shoot this rifle before shot show (I couldn’t tell anyone, sorry!) and this is a great rifle, just like their UIC Line. Here is a little video and picture on their new 308 rifles:

Tactical Solutions has launched a new handguard for the AR rifles called the XGPro. This will be available on their 300 Blackout Complete rifle and their 22LR AR rifle. I believe this will also be available for purchase on its own.

Here is another picture of the handguard along with their line of rimfire silencers

Faxon Firearms released their ARAK31. Their 308 version of the ARAK21. There are a few differences. This does offer everything ambidextrous, even the charging handle. It also comes with a HyperFire trigger as well which has a nice break with a super short reset. I would definitely say they are aiming at the market for those looking at a SCAR17, but don’t want to pay $2700 and offers more features.

One company that I have been meaning to touch base with for a while, finally happened at Shot Show. Safety Harbor Firearms. If you aren’t familiar with them, they make some .50 cal products, most notably a .50BMG upper for your AR. They are definitely looking to branch out into other markets and bring innovating products. I see this as being a really popular product. This collapsible stock does need propriety buffer, but they will also have a non-proprietary version coming shortly as well.

Okay, time to cover two products that the hunting geek inside of me freaked out a bit over. Benelli finally came out with an over and under called the 828U. I didn’t have too much time to spend looking at it, but I can tell you it is light, the receiver construction is different from your traditional over/under, and it is being marketed as the toughest over and under on the market. Expect more info on it day 3. Here is a break view picture:

Another product that I REALLY like is Sitka gear. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are a high-end hunting clothing line. While their product cost more than your traditional hunting gear, I can tell you that their products perform and make the cost worth it. They recently announced that they were changing their Whitetail patter (very green) to something else. Well, I finally had the chance to check out the new pattern:

The color change is throwing many people off, but the color of the product actually doesn’t matter (according to Sitka). Their patterns are all about breaking up the human outline and making you stand out less. The new differences in this line is the pattern color and direction. This product line is geared towards late whitetail season and tree stand hunter. The big deal with the pattern direction is the new direction of the pattern. Imagine if the pattern ran in a V-formation on the pattern. While it isn’t that extreme, it is based a deer looking up at a person in a tree stand. Instead of having a horizontal or vertical based pattern direction, it is a V-shape to match the view of the animal. They will also be offering a new material line for their product. You can see in the picture below a fuzzy type of clothing. I don’t know the specifics of that makeup of the material, but it is soft, quiet, keeps good waterproof properties and good insulation. It will be their “does everything good” line as I see it. But Sitka makes some very cool product with a lot of research into their design.
